skills serves children and adults. Our support services include
evaluation and treatment of children and adults with: Language/Learning
Disabilities.
Our staff of licensed speech-language pathologists is trained to evaluate and treat a range of communication/learning disorders including:
• Receptive and Expressive Language Disorders
o Difficulties with understanding and producing of language.
• Stuttering
o Hesitations and repetitions of sounds and/or words when we talk.
• Pragmatic/Social Language Difficulties
o Difficulties with the social use of language, including the ability to initiate and maintain conversation.
• Auditory/Language Processing Disorders
o Difficulties in recognizing and interpreting sounds and language
• Apraxia/Dyspraxia
o Impaired ability to plan and swquence motor movements for speech production
• Dysarthria
o Disorder of muscle tone, strength, or imbalance, where specific muscle groups may be too weak or too tight, resulting in disorders of articulation, phonation, rate, and rhythm
• Accent Modification
o Although one may speak English fluently, many intelligent foreign-born professionals have accents that cause them to be perceived as uneducated or incompetent. Because of this, they often suffer frustration and anxiety in business communications, and find they are unable to advance in their careers.
• Articulation/Phonology Disorders
o Difficulty producing speech sounds correctly
• Learning Disabilities
o Including difficulties with decoding, reading comprehension and written language
• Aphasia
o A language disorder caused by brain injury affecting language comprehension and production
• Oral Motor/Myafunctional Disorders
o Difficulties using the oral mechanism (teeth, tongue, jay, lips and cheeks) for functional speech or feeding, including chewing, blowing, or making specific sounds.
• Autism Spectrum Disorders (Autism, Aspberger’s PDD-NOS)
o Autism is a brain disorder that often interferes with a person’s ability to communicate with and relate to others.
