Language Skills for Success

Here are some things you need to know.
Appointments
Clients are seen by appointment for evaluations and regular
therapy sessions. Consecutive appointments are scheduled so
it is important that we maintain our schedule. If you cannot
keep an appointment, please notify our staff by calling 559-228-9100
day or night. We do not charge for missed appointments with
at least 24-hours prior notice.
Initial Consultation
Prior to your first visit we offer a free 30-minute consultation
in the office or on the phone to discuss your concerns and
our services. Please bring with you any other professional
evaluations so we any consider them as we plan our assessments.
Evaluation
We schedule evaluation appointments to do formal and informal
testing and to observe strengths and weaknesses in speech,
language, and learning. Evaluations are necessary to plan
and provide the best therapy.
Therapy and Training
We will schedule regular therapy sessions after evaluation
results and a treatment plan are written and agreed upon.
Therapy is designed to meet the individual needs of our clients
and is carried out by licensed, certified therapists. Most
sessions are 50 minutes. The number of sessions depends upon
the ongoing needs of our clients.
Insurance Information
Clients are responsible for payment at the time of service.
Health insurance plans will often cover speech-language therapy
when it is medically necessary. Our office staff will assist
you in determining if you may qualify for this coverage.
Referrals
In a successful practice, we depend on word of mouth and good
client relations to sustain a constant flow of clients and
continue our work. Your personal recommendations to family
and friends are greatly appreciated.
Teamwork for Success
Speech/language therapy is more successful when we work together
as a team to achieve goals. You are an important member of
our team. You can help extend the benefits of therapy by actively
participating in a home program designed to practice speech/language
skills learned. With your support and follow-through the duration
of therapy needed can be reduced with optimal results.
The director for the Center for Communication Skills is Kathryn
Wage, M.A., CCC-SLP, a licensed certified speech-language pathologist.
